- How big is Lake Tahoe?
Lake Tahoe is 22 miles long, 12 miles wide, 72 miles around, and has a surface area of 191.6 square miles (122,628 acres).

- How deep is Lake Tahoe?
At its deepest point, Lake Tahoe is 1,645 feet deep, making it the second deepest lake in North America (the deepest is Crater Lake in Oregon, at 1,932 feet deep). The lake's average depth is 989 feet.

- How much water is in the lake?
Lake Tahoe contains an estimated 39 trillion gallons of water (122,000,000 acre feet). That's enough to cover the entire state of California with 14 inches of water!

- How high up is Lake Tahoe?
The natural rim of Lake Tahoe is at 6,223 feet above sea level. The average surface of the lake, however, is three feet higher - 6,226 feet above sea level. Heavenly is Tahoe's highest ski resort with a top elevation of 10,067 feet.

- How pure is the water?
The famed clarity of Lake Tahoe is due to the fact that it is 99% pure. The lake is so clear that a dinner plate is visible 65 feet below the surface!

Due to the depth of Lake Tahoe, it's water is not known for its warmth! Even at the shoreline, water temperature is an invigorating 68 degrees!

Balloons Over Lake Tahoe, one of Lake Tahoe's oldest ballooning companies, began giving rides over the crystal-clear waters of Tahoe in 1991. Balloons Over Lake Tahoe is open from mid-May to the end of October and features:
- Children must be at least 7 years of age (However, if you are scheduling all 7 to 8 passenger spaces, there is no age limit for children)

- Schedule up to 6 to 8 passengers per flight

- Time of flight includes early morning at sunrise (Note, time of sunrise varies at different times of the year, please call ahead)
