Heavenly Kids Lessons

We have specially trained pros who enjoy and choose to work with children. Our first priority is for your child to have fun and to enjoy snowsports. In the process we're going to sneak in some skill development (but that'll be our little secret). The pros are committed to creating a supportive learning environment that is delivered with a playful approach. Basically, the kids come away with the feeling like they've spent the day on a snowcovered playground.

Heavenly Children's Ski and Snowboard School clinics range from an introduction to skiing or snowboarding through advanced coaching. Full-Day sessions include clinic, lift access, rental equipment, helmet, and lunch for children ages 4-13. Children's snowboard clinics are for children ages 5-13.

Full-Day Session registration begins at 8:00 AM weekends and holidays, and 8:30 AM midweek. Registration for Full-Day Sessions ends at 9:30 AM sharp!

The Heavenly Children's Ski and Snowboard School Centers are located at the base of the Gondola, at the California Main Lodge, and at the Boulder Lodge. During weekends, holidays, and peak periods, space can be extremely limited. Advanced reservations are HIGHLY recommended and can be made for Full-Day Sessions only.
  • Please have your children's shoe sizes, heights, weights, and birthdays readily available prior to making advanced reservations.

Advanced Reservations Recommended

Advanced reservations are highly recommended (as holiday periods may be sold out) for the Children's Ski School Program and Private Lessons throughout the ski season, especially during the December holiday period, Martin Luther King weeked, President's Day week and the month of March. Advanced Reservations must be made 12:00 PM (noon) the day before arrival. Advanced Reservation for the 2007-2008 Children's Ski and Snowboard School are now available by calling 1-800-HEAVENLY, 8 AM - 4 PM, seven days a week. How to Dress

If you're wondering how to dress your child for a day on the mountain, here are our recommendations:

  • Dress in several thin layers
  • Waterproof pants & jacket (required)
  • Waterproof gloves or mittens (required)
  • One pair of socks (multiple pairs wrinkle and bunch up)
  • Goggles for snowy days or sunglasses for sunny days (required)
  • Helmet (included with all Rockets & Firecrackers packages)
  • A warm hat (only if you're not planning on using a helmet)
  • Plenty of sunscreen (required)

Note: Be sure to mark all your child's clothing with his or her name, using a piece of masking tape or magic marker. And if you happen to get all the way to the mountain and realize you forgot an essential item, we have a retail outlet with a supply of basic items conveniently located next to the Children's Center.

Headgear

Heavenly Mountain Resort encourages our guests to consider the advantages and disadvantages a winter sports helmet may offer. Helmets are included in all Kids Group Lesson packages.

Regardless of whether or not you choose to wear a helmet, every winter sport participant shares in the responsibility for their safety and of those around them.

Heavenly Mountain Resort does recommend the use of helmets for children 14 years and younger while participating in our children's ski school programs. Rental helmets are available at all of our children's ski school locations for your convenience (For those participating in our programs). We also offer for sale a wide variety of helmets for children and adults at all of our retail locations. Parents (or guardians) requesting their children (14 years and younger) not wear a helmet in any ski school program will be required to sign a release waiver prior to participation.

Now, kids can get familiar with skiing and snowboarding right from the computer with Snow Monsters. Snowmonsters is a website designed especially for kids and provides fun and interacitve games and lessons.
